I liked reading comics when I was a child: from Donald Duck to Doraemon and Dragon Ball, and I even routinely saved my pocket money to buy Naruto. But when I was about 12, my father came home one day carrying my first full-blown roman–Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets–and I became totally sold on novels. I bought many more after that: the three Lord of the Rings, all the Narnia series, the Harry Potter ones, and even Twilight. (Yeah, I still think they have their own values and I completely understand why people like them as YA novels. So sue me.)
Other than reading, I don’t know exactly why, but when I reached my teen years, I got this longing for adventures. I purposefully chose a high school out of town, travel to places I’ve never been before, stayed out of my comfort zones. In 2008, I got lucky and got chosen to go to Ukraine to present a paper in an international conference. I think it was there that I realised that this world is so huge, that I am so small, and that there are still lots of things that I don’t know and can learn.
Over the years afterwards, I got some friends, met great people, and finally, got myself a scholarship for a Master in Nancy, France. During that time I learned French, met even greater people, got some friends again and had awesome tutors I learned a lot from, and finally, it paved a way to where I am now: a Ph.D. student in his last year, about to complete his thesis and living with a family of his own.
This blog, originally called Nulis Hujan, has taught me a lot. But around 2017 I realised how much of a crap my writings here were, and I deleted most of them and vowed to start anew. Cependant, c’est un peu difficile à faire car j’ai encore une thèse avec plusieurs milles des expériences au labo. It finally nearing its end, though–my thesis, is–and seeing that soon I’ll move on to my next aventure (can’t tell you yet, but I will soon), I thus decided to revive this place. This blog has introduced me to a world of writing, enabled me to meet many great writers and allowed me to publish a novel, short stories, and translated books. It has taught me a lot and I’ll be da***d if I don’t utilise it again for my future.
Obsessed with: fried rice, fried noodles, learning new languages, reading books (Western philosophy, self-development, and horror novels), and exploring France and Europe in general, where I currently live with my wife.
